Etwariya Devi, age 67, widow, died of starvation in Sonpurwa village of Garhwa district’s Majhiaon block on December 25th, 2017, when glitches caused a failure in authentication for her daughter-in-law's Aadhaar with her fingerprints, making the family unable to procure food.

Aadhaar failures had also disrupted her pension since October.
