Shakuntala Devi, the wife of a Kargil martyr Havaldar Laxman Dass lost her life after a private hospital allegedly denied treatment because her Aadhaar card was at home and the hospital refused to start treatment without it, even though the son said he would go and get it. According to the victim’s son, he showed the copy of his Aadhaar card in his phone but the hospital authorities refused her treatment. She died on 28th December 2017.
