In what is a clear violation of a Supreme Court order that Aadhaar cannot be made mandatory for bank accounts till the case in the Supreme Court is concluded, the Finacle banking software used by banks requires Aadhaar in order to create bank accounts, Moneylife রিপোর্ট।
The Supreme Court, in its order dated 13th March, 2018 অনির্দিষ্টকালের জন্য মোবাইল ফোন এবং ব্যাংক অ্যাকাউন্ট লিঙ্ক করার জন্য নির্দিষ্ট সময়সীমা বাড়ানো with Aadhaar till the conclusion of the cases being heard by the 5-judge bench on the constitutional validity of Aadhaar.
The banking software Finacle is developed by Infosys. Nandan Nilekani, the first Chairman of UIDAI was among the founding members of Infosys. Banks using Finacle include Union Bank of India Bank of India, Oriental Bank of Commerce, Punjab National Bank, J&K, Bank of Baroda, IDBI Bank,Karnata Bank Andhra Bank, Federal Bank, Punjab & Sind Bank, South Indian Bank, United Bank of India, UCO Bank, Qantas Credit Union in Australia, ICICI Bank in India, DBS Bank, Indian Overseas Bank in India and Corporation Bank.
This would be the “Aadhaar ecosystem” blatantly overruling the Supreme Court. Previously, Dr. Ajay Bhushab Pandey, the current CEO of UIDAI had flat out সুপ্রিম কোর্টের অর্ডার অসঙ্গতি in an interview to media when he had said that Aadhaar would be mandatory for creating Tatkal passports (the same order from the Supreme Court explicitly states that Aadhaar cannot be made mandatory for creating Tatkal passports).
