The RBI’s PCR was intended to be “an extensive database of credit information for India that is accessible to all stakeholders”. The PCR was intended to help improve efficiencies in the Indian credit market, aid financial inclusion, help control deliquencies and in general improve the ease of doing business.
Recently the UK based company, Cambridge Analytica has been खबर में for illegally harvesting user data from Facebook and enabling the use of this stolen data to influence the US Presidential election in 2016 in favour of Donald Trump. Cambridge Analytica has also been linked to several other elections including the Brexit referendum that led to Britain leaving the EU.
An Andhra Pradesh government maintained website has hosted a dashboard app that can search people in 13 districts using “religion” and “caste” amongst other categories. On February 22nd, during an appearance before the Supreme Court for the ongoing Aadhaar hearings, Gujarat state counsel Rakesh Dwivedi स्वीकार किया है कि एक संग्रह गुजरात के निवासियों के सभी बॉयोमीट्रिक्स युक्त had been maintaining a “State Resident Data Hub” (SRDH). He said that Gujarat’s SRDH had been created under an agreement signed with the the UIDAI which provided Aadhaar related information.
