Former Karnataka High Court Judge, Justice Anand Byrareddy has filed an Impleadment Application before the Supreme Court challenging the provisions of the Aadhaar (Targeted Delivery of Financial and other Subsidies, Benefits and Services) Act, 2016. Calling the Aadhaar “a fraud on the Constitution of India” his application argues for striking the Aadhaar Act down completely as well as the various notifications by the government for being unconstitutional and asks for a return to status quo ante with the destruction of data collected by the Aadhaar project “leaving no scope for any continuing imperilment of the rights, liberty and life of the people of this country including the Applicant.”

This was long overdue.
